My deep and abiding love of art has grown throughout decades of looking at and working with the visual culture that surrounds us. Art never fails to fill me with awe—from children's doodles to the studio output of professional artists; from street and outsider art to objects in world-class museums. I am convinced that visual art is powerful: it can engage and inspire, illuminate human history, advance a sociopolitical message. It can heal; it can delight; it can change people’s minds in innumerable surprising directions.

My passion has been informed by having lived and worked in places as disparate as Eugene, Oregon; Tübingen, Germany; Columbus, Ohio; New York City; and the remote eastern end of the Columbia River Gorge. My home is in Portland, Oregon, where I have lived for the past thirty years.
